The above restrictions only apply to a coaches’ starting roster. There are no restrictions on how teams are developed throughout the season other than per BB2025 rule book.

Setting up a new team

1. Drafting a roster

TourPlay does not support ‘skill packs’ for league competitions so coaches are asked to draft their team on 3rd party roster apps. We recommend Blood Bowl Team Creator as it clearly splits out money spent on players/staff and skills.

2. Submission
  • Coaches must register their team on TourPlay and use the 1,100,00 gold pieces to build their rosters.
  • Coaches must then submit their full roster (screenshot/pdf), including addition skills, to the Season V Roster Submission channel.
3. Review

Following submission of the roster for review, a member of staff will set up additional skill and lock the roster down ready for the start of the season.

Re-drafting

Coaches who wish to Re-draft their teams from Season IV may do so per rules set out in the Blood Bowl 2025 Rulebook (pages 104 to 106) with the following modifications and stipulations.

  • There is NO Re-draft Budget Cap as described in para 2 of ‘Raise Funds’ on page 105 of the BB2025 rule book.
  • Instead, Re-drafted teams apply TV caps based on the division in which they will play their next season. This TV cap applies ONLY until the end of a coaches first match of season V.
  • Re-drafted players have a cap of 11 unspent SPP. Coaches can choose 1 player to be exempt from this cap on their new team roster.
  • Re-drafted players with unspent SPPs must not spend those points until after the coaches first match of season V.
  • Note: all matches played on TourPlay count towards ‘raising funds’ – league, cup and exhibition matches all contribute towards a teams re-draft budget.

DIVISION 1 TEAMS

Teams in Division 1 will have a cap of 1,450 TV.

DIVISION 2 TEAMS

Teams in Division 2 will have a cap of 1,400 TV .

DIVISION 3 TEAMS

Teams in Division 3 will have a cap of 1,350 TV .

DIVISION 4 TEAMS

Teams in Division 4 will have a cap of 1,300 TV.

Note: Many coaches will not know their Season V division until sign‑ups and play‑offs conclude at the end of August 2026.

Setting up a Re-drafted team

1. Drafting a roster
  • When Season IV is concluded on TourPlay (end of August) all teams will move into a Re-draft state.
  • When in ‘Re-draft’ mode, coaches can amend their rosters.
Coaches may use this re-draft template to experiment with their rosters.
2. Submission
  • Coaches then register their rosters in the Season V competition. Note: on registration, choose the ‘My Teams’ toggle to access your current teams.
  • Coaches must then submit a screenshot of their full roster to the Season V Roster Submission channel on Discord, linked below.
3. Review

Following submission of the roster for review, a member of staff will review and lock the roster down ready for the start of the season.

Optional Activities

Alongside the standard league season, we offer a curated selection of optional FREE activities coaches can be involved in.

F.B. Cup

A free to enter knock out tournament. Utilising coaches’ league teams, the F.B. Cup introduces additional rules and special themed rounds to spice things up a bit!

  • Rewards coaches with winnings, SPPs and the match count as the ‘MNG’ for players currently injured.
  • Risk the health of your players for the additional rewards and glory! The F.B. Cup will not be ‘res’ for Season V.
  • An increased focus on drawing coaches from other divisions for Round 1.
  • Coaches who loose in Round 1 will be offered the chance to participate in a alternative activity granting the chance to earn SPPs.
  • F.B. Cup is open to coaches not participating in the league season. Such coaches must register teams on TrouPlay based on the roster rules defined in the first section of this rules pack.
Seasonal Dungeon Bowl

Whether its “Delving Into Santas Sack” or “The Eggsecutioners Invitational” we often hold 6 players themed Dungeon Bowl events.

  • Six players, multiple balls, random activation per round.
  • Special rules like the Easter Bunny or Krampus roaming the halls.
  • Seasonal helpers bestow additional skills or rewards to players.
  • Bring ‘College of’ or regular team rosters.
  • Games take place on a highly detailed and painted dungeon tile set!
Exhibition Matches

Coaches may arrange exhibition (friendly) matches via the exhibition match scheduling channel.

  • Use your current league team.
  • Resurrection with no winnings/MVPs awarded. Prayers to Nuffle turned on!
  • Matches count towards re-draft budget.
  • Results tracked via a dedicated league table.
  • Team finishing top of the table wins a prize at the end of the season.

Bounties

The bounty system adds an extra incentive for coaches to kick the snot out of each others’ players.
A bounty takes the form of an amount of gold the proposing coach wishes to put up (from their own treasury) when certain criteria is achieved… usually the maiming or death of the target player!

HOW?

Coaches raise bounties via the form linked below.

Submision of the form posts an announcement on Discord. A TourPlay admin will then deduct the 25% bounty fee from the raising coaches treasury.

Upon completion of the bounty, a TourPlay admin will align the coaches treasuries and announce the bounty has been paid.

Season schedule

League rounds will be 3 weeks. Each regular season round starts on a Wednesday and concludes on a Tuesday.

Championship, promotion and relegation play-off rules are covered below in ‘General Rules’.

Forge Breakers code of conduct

Our code of conduct is in place to remind us all about the importance of the social contract we enter into whenever we sit down for a match with another coach. Blood Bowl is a game which brings out passionate feelings and actions… which is great! But please remember, you’re both involved in the story of your match. No matter the outcome of the match we all have a responsibility to ensure the hand shake at the end is warmly offered and received.

Cheer each others successes and commiserate each others failures.

If any coach has experienced conduct of a lesser standard than which aligns with this code of conduct and wishes to request support, please email via the link below.

General rules

Match organisation

Matches should be played in Chippenham. However, if both coaches agree, matches can be played elsewhere.

All matches must be arranged via the relevant match scheduling channels linked below in order to provide full visibility for staff. Private threads can used within these channels if needed.

Once a match has been scheduled the details must be updated on TourPlay.

If a coach experiences difficulty arranging a match, please contact your Divisional Officer for support.

Playing ahead

Playing league matches ahead (i.e. before a rounds start date) is allowed provided both coaches have played the same number of matches.

Extensions

Permission must be sought, from Staff, for league match extensions (i.e. playing a match after the end of a round pertaining to the game in question). Small extension of up to 3 days are generally acceptable provided a date has been agreed upon by the end date of the relevant round. Longer extentions are less likely to be granted.

If an extension is not agreed, the match must be conceded via the following principles.

Concessions

There are 2 types of concession a) those which occur prior to a match occurring and, b) those which occur during the course of the match.

Concessions prior to a match occurring follow a bespoke system. First, the coaches involved must determine who is responsible for the failure to resolve the match (Staff may intervene if coaches cannot reach an accord). Staff will then ‘admin’ the result in TourPlay, awarding a 1-0 win and 1 MVP to the coach deemed less culpable for the match not being resolved normally. Match winnings and fans are updated per page 101 of the BB2025 rule book. No players will be liable to quit the team.

For scenarios where there is equal culpability Staff may resolve the match outside of the above parameters.

Concession which occur during a match follow the rules laid out on page 101 of the BB2025 rule book. This includes the ‘conceding without penalty’ section.

If a coach concedes more than 1 game within the league season (this includes league and F.B. Cup matches), that coach forfeits their place and entry fee in the current season.

Entry Fee breakdown

League season

League season entry fee will be £10 for teams joining from round 1. Any coaches who join the later (i.e. as replacements for coaches who drop out) will pay a proportion of this entry fee on a case-by-case basis. Coaches who drop out forfeit their entry fee.

The £10 entry fee covers a) the costs of Tourplay, which has a monthly subscription fee based on the number of registered players/administrators attached to a league and b) the swag gift given to coaches participating in the league.

FB Cup

The FB Cup is free to join!

Alternative platforms

Forge Breakers is a Blood Bowl tabletop community, however, in extreme circumstances FUMBBL may be permitted only with both express permission of the Commissioners and agreement from both coaches related to the match in question. If “Coach B” doesn’t want to use FUMBBL, their veto is final.

All other digital alternatives (i.e. Blood Bowl 2, Blood Bowl 3, Tabletop Simulator) for playing a match are forbidden.

Drop-out and replacements

In scenarios where a coach is either removed from the league or they’ve stepped down, a replacement will be sought by the league commissioners. Priority/first refusal is given to coaches who have been part of the community for a longer period of time.

If suitable replacements cannot be found, ‘admin’ teams will be drafted in as required. An ‘admin’ team is a 2nd team entered into the relevant competition, coached by a member of Staff.

Communication channels

All coaches must be registered on the Forge Breaker Discord server. Link can be found in the footer of each page on this website.

Discord is the primary communications channel for match organisation, league announcements, rules queries and other general BB/hobby chat.

Models and equipment

Each coach must ensure pitch, dice (2D6, 3 block dice, D8, D16), rulebook and access to Tourplay for their matches.

Models

All models should be recognizable and distinguishable. If you are using proxies, please ensure your opponent is aware and happy to play.

Painting requirements

For the regular season there is no painting requirement in place. However all teams playing in the end of season playoffs should be painted to a 3-colour minimum standard.

Dice and dice cup

Coaches should use D6 and ‘Block’ dice no smaller than the ‘standard’ GW size of roughly 16mm along each edge. Coaches may be asked to use different dice if smaller dice are being used.

Forge Breakers encourage the use of dice cups.

Ruleset

Forge Breakers Blood Bowl matches use the Blood Bowl 2025 ruleset and FAQs. FAQs released during the season are considered legal, however any new team rosters are not valid.

Queries

In the event of rules queries during a match, please post these to the rules-queries channel in Discord and we will try and get an answer as fast as possible. More experienced players can be asked to referee matches between less experienced players, if desired.

PLAY-OFFS & POST SEASON

After the regular season ends, the league moves into the play‑off phase, which determines the overall champion and all promotion/relegation outcomes.

Season VI sign‑ups inform how many promotion and relegation play‑offs are required. To give Staff a complete picture, the Season V sign‑up window closes at the end of the regular season.

The Division 1 championship play‑off (top four teams) is not affected by next‑season sign‑ups.

Division placement is tied to the coach, not the team — re‑drafting or bringing a new roster does not change a coach’s division.

Replacements & drop outs

A coach who plays more than 50% of their fixtures will have their final league position used to determine their division and any play‑off involvement.

A coach who plays 50% or fewer fixtures is excluded from all play‑off calculations and is treated as a new coach (or Experienced Coach – see below section) for next season’s divisional placement.

Only the points earned by that coach count toward their league position.

Division 1 Championship play-off

The top 4 coaches in Division 1 enter into a knock-out semi-final with the winners battling it out for the Forge Breaker League trophy. Each teams final league placing determine the semi-final draw: P1 v P4 and P2 v P3.

Promotion and relegation play-offs

Movement between divisions helps maintain fun, competitive matches in sensibly sized groups. While Division 1 coaches are often more experienced, the aim is enjoyable games for all coaches, regardless of skill or motivation.

For Season V, the plan is to automatically promote and relegate two teams per division. The 3rd‑bottom team in the higher division will then enter a play‑off with the 3rd, 4th, and 5th teams from the lower division; the winner earns the higher‑division spot.

This structure depends on next‑season sign‑ups. If returning numbers allow, play‑offs proceed as above. However, maintaining balanced division sizes takes priority over both the play‑off format and any fixed limits on promotion/relegation numbers.

INDUCEMENTs, HIRING/FIRING & TIE-BREAKERS

Prayers to Nuffle

Prayers to Nuffles are banned for Season V and FB Cup matches.

Hiring ad Firing players

Coaches may hire and fire players on their roster without the restrictions imposed in the BB2025 ruleset.

Inducements

Coaches will have the following inducements options for league and FB Cup games:

Tie-breakers

The following tie-break order will be used on TourPlay:

EXPERIENCED COACHES

The Experienced Coaches rule is to help ensure appropriate placement of coaches within our divisional structure to ensure they, and their fellow divisional coaches have fun and competitive matches.

Definition of an ‘Experienced Coach’

A coach is considered Experienced if they meet any of the following:

  • Have 30+ tabletop games played, or
  • Hold a positive NAF record after 9+ matches, or
  • Their last active season was in Division 1 and they did not play in the previous season, or
  • Have previously qualified for a Forge Breakers championship playoff.

Exception: Any coach who has dropped out mid‑season in the past is not considered Experienced and must start in the lowest division.

Divisional placement

Experienced Coaches may be placed into a higher division only if:

  • Redraft numbers allow, and
  • Their inclusion does not block natural promotions from Division 4 (i.e., finishing 1st or 2nd).

If this cannot be done sensibly, all Experienced Coaches are placed in the lowest division.

Experienced Coaches are excluded from any natural play‑offs involving returning coaches.

Multiple experienced coaches

If several Experienced Coaches sign up:

  • They are all treated the same way initially.
  • If needed, they may contest a play‑off for a spot in the higher division. These play‑offs use the most recent Forge Breakers tournament ruleset.

STAFF ROLES

Forge Breakers have 2 ‘staff’ levels, each with defined responsibilities as defined below.

Divisional Officers

Each division is assigned a Divisional Officer. Their role covers:

  • Being first point of contact for coaches who require support resolving matches.
  • Post round match details at the start, and during, each league round.
  • Foster a community spirit within their division.
  • Provide initial feedback to community/rule pack updates proposed by commissioners.
  • Help run events and tournaments.
Commissioners

Commissioners represent the ‘board’ level of Forge Breakers Their role covers:

  • Defining seasonal rules pack.
  • Maintain club treasury.
  • Provide final rulings on coach issues.
  • Support Divisional Officers as required.
  • Manage events and tournaments.
But who are they??
