This week we sat down with Pete (2) to talk about his Humans…

1) What’s your name and where do you come from?

My name’s Pete Marlow and I currently live in Chippenham but grew up in Bridgwater in the southwest (tractors!)

2) Tell us a little about how you came to play Blood Bowl, and your experience with the game and wider hobby.

It was actually Pete (1) who got me involved with Blood Bowl. He messaged me one evening about playing a bit of Blood Bowl at Bargammon’s and the rest is history. So thanks Pete!

I’d never played Blood Bowl before, but I grew up exposed to pretty much every Games Workshop game under the sun. My dad and four brothers (my mum wanted a daughter but gave up after five 😂) were keen hobbyists and I’ve had armies for 40K (Necrons), LOTR (Gondor) and Warmaster (Tomb Kings) to name a few!

3) What Blood Bowl achievement are you most proud of?

Getting the trophy for most completions last season- Baker Mayfield was on fire!

4) Tell us about the team you’ve brought into Season III. Did you select it for purely competitive reasons, or were there other factors involved?

My team are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They’re humans and closely resemble their NFL counterparts! This is the second time I’ve redrafted them so this will be the last run with them. Having been relegated last season they felt they had some unfinished business; however, the additional redraft cost has made them a bit uncompetitive, but still, lots of fun to play with!

5) What was your thought process behind your roster selections and the skills you took?

I wanted to mimic the modern NFL which is very pass focused so I wanted a couple of Catchers (Dodge, Sidestep) who could run down field (preferably to the endzone!) and then have the quarterback (Thrower – Cannoneer, Cloud burster) survive the pass rush with enough time to air it out!

6) How would you describe your playstyle with this team?

It is very pass heavy. Essentially, the catchers run to the endzone (with dodge, block and sidestep they’re fairly resilient) and then the thrower moves up to midfield and throws it to them when they’re standing in the endzone. This usually results in a 3+/4+ with a reroll on the throw and a 3+ with a reroll on the catch which isn’t too bad!

7) What are your expectations for this season? Do you have any particular goals you’d like to achieve?

My major goal is to try and get at least one win and not be relegated again… 😆

8) Outside of Blood Bowl tell us a little about your life and main passions?

I have three young kids, so they keep me pretty busy, but in the spare time I do have, I love to do a bit of painting/modelling (I’ve just started collecting an Empire army for Old World), board games and watching the NFL.

9) Pirates or Ninjas?

Buccaneers of course!

Thanks for your time sharing some details Pete! Next up is Mark (PeetyPoos).
