To kick off our series of coach interviews, we’re starting strong! Mellie is the chief wizard at Bargammons Tavern and signed up for Season III after spending a couple of seasons watching us roll dice on the grid iron. Let’s see what she has to say about it all…
1) What’s your name and where do you come from?
Mellie, from Bristol, then LA and finally landing in ‘Nam, ChippeNam.
2) Tell us a little about how you came to play Blood Bowl, and your experience with the game and wider hobby.
I own Bargammon’s Tavern where the Forge Breakers League call home. After a year of watching people play, I bought a Dark Elves team. During the following year I finally managed to get the team together and mostly painted enough to also join the league. I have only played 6 matches on top of the two learning games I had but am loving it and slowly but surely learning every time.
3) What Blood Bowl achievement are you most proud of?
My defence tactics are pretty good and I am pleased that I seem to mostly lose on my opponents’ last go of the 2nd half. I have almost drawn 3 of my league matches.
4) Tell us about the team you’ve brought into Season III. Did you select it for purely competitive reasons, or were there other factors involved?
Dark Elves are my team because they were the team I was lent to learn on, so I felt familiar with them. I might change it up for next season as there are so many elves about at the moment. [ed: As long as you don’t choose Dwarves!]

5) What was your thought process behind your roster selections and the skills you took?
I tend not to think too often. It hurts.
6) How would you describe your playstyle with this team?
I was a cheerleader for my school’s American football team when I was a teen. I am also a big fan of the NFL. I play with the game I know in mind.
7) What are your expectations for this season? Do you have any particular goals you’d like to achieve?
Aim for this season to be a school season, so don’t mind losing. However, next season I would like to kick more butt!
8) Outside of Blood Bowl tell us a little about your life and main passions?
Music is my life and I enjoy playing guitar and drums. I also volunteer for many dog rescues. The craft workshops at the Tavern are important to me too.
9) Pirates or Ninjas?
The offspring of a Ninja and Pirate, obviously.

A massive thank you to Mellie for sharing some details of her Blood Bowl journey so far! Next up will be Ryan.. and we’ll read all about him next Thursday (10th April 2025).
