Our second coach interview is with last season’s FB Cup champion, Ryan!
1) What’s your name and where do you come from?
Ryan, I’m originally from Surrey but now settled in Chippenham with my family.
2) Tell us a little about how you came to play Blood Bowl, and your experience with the game and wider hobby.
I first discovered Blood Bowl playing on PC. I really liked its twist on the Warhammer Fantasy world, but with sports! It was there that I ran a small online league during Covid. This was also when I built and started painting my first Blood Bowl Teams, Humans and Orcs of course! From there I moved to playing tabletop, participating in a few tournaments. Then I joined the Forge Breakers league.
3) What Blood Bowl achievement are you most proud of?
Last season, my Orc team, the “New Orc Gaints,” was the first team to win the Forge Breakers Cup!
4) Tell us about the team you’ve brought into Season III. Did you select it for purely competitive reasons, or were there other factors involved?
During Season II I brought my Orcs to the grid iron. They made it to the semi-finals of Division 1, and also won the FB Cup. Now they are back for Season III for another run at the division title, and to defend the Cup title! They are a hard-hitting Bash team and can be quite competitive, but they also have their faults (animosity amongst others).

5) What was your thought process behind your roster selections and the skills you took?
My Orc team is redrafted with lots of Block, Guard, and strength 4/5. My thoughts are to keep my Orcs doing what they love and bashing their way up the field. To stay ahead of the other Bash teams in the league I have my redrafted Big Un Blocker Jätte. He has the Block and Defensive skills, making him a nuisance for opposing guard players to deal with.
6) How would you describe your playstyle with this team?
Bash focused on Offense, making as many good blocks as I can each turn. Ball carrier pushing up slowly behind a wall of green muscle. On Defence, if the game devolves into a big ruck in the middle then it’s all going well.
7) What are your expectations for this season? Do you have any particular goals you’d like to achieve?
I’d like to make it to the playoffs again this season for another run at the title. There are a lot of good players in the division so this will be no easy task. I would also like to try and make it back to the Cup final to defend that trophy.
8) Outside of Blood Bowl tell us a little about your life and main passions?
I am a cheesemonger by trade. I love spending my time with my Wife and Daughter (and trying to convert them to play Blood Bowl). I am a big tabletop hobbyist and enjoy collecting and playing a variety of games.
9) Pirates or Ninjas?
Skeleton Pirates, Rat Ninjas.

A massive thank you to Ryan for sharing some details of his Blood Bowl journey so far! Next week we’ll learn more about KingBarrington.
