1) What’s your name and where do you come from?
Barry Hale aka KingBarrington (the origin of which is long lost to the mists of time).
2) Tell us a little about how you came to play Blood Bowl, and your experience in with the game and wider hobby.
I have very dusty memories of playing 2nd edition with an old mate, the one with the polystyrene pitch that came in three pieces and had end zone plastic strips with the team names on it – but my interest really kicked in with 3rd.
3) What Blood Bowl achievement are you most proud of?
Just getting involved in a local league to be honest and getting in with a really friendly group of players. I haven’t had much tournament experience, bar a single one day event in Bargammons, so would like to try and get to more of these in the future. So in terms of my Blood Bowl achievement – watch this space…
4) Tell us about the team you’ve brought into Season III. Did you select it for purely competitive reasons, or were there other factors involved?
Skaven this year, the newly formed ‘The Under-Nuln Warpclaws’. The decision was partially competitive. After two years of playing humans, I wanted to have something a bit more specialised, more speed, more agility. I’ve also had my 3rd edition team stashed away, so it was also a bit of a nostalgic choice.

5) What was your thought process behind your roster selections and the skills you took?
I was really caught between two ideas, between taking four Gutters/no thrower or three and a thrower. I settled on the latter just in case I needed a plan B and had to launch it.
Skills wise, I worked on the principle that the Gutters would generate their own SPP at a decent rate, whereas skills on other position players might be harder to come by. So Juggernaut on the ROgre seemed a shoe in, one Tackle, one Guard on the Blitzers and Block on my Thrower, the now Late Barry Shitpeas (bloody Gnomes).
Beware though, Son of Shitpeas will join the fray soon.
6) How would you describe your playstyle with this team?
Very much a running style as you would expect with Skaven, using the ROgre to punch holes. I like to have a very active Big Guy so I have him shepherded by his personal meat-popsicle ‘Yellow Ox’ – who has proven to be extremely resilient to the beats handed out to him.

7) What are your expectations for this season? Do you have any particular goals you’d like to achieve?
Beforehand, new team and its been a while since I’ve played Rats, so survival in League 2 – but the first few games have gone reasonably well, so I’d like to have a tilt at the top four.
That, and get a mutation on Yellow Ox – Very Long Legs? Foul Appearance? I might let the dice gods decide.
8) Outside of Blood Bowl tell us a little about your life and main passions?
I have two young kids, so the concepts of life and passions were for when I was young and carefree. I play Age of Sigmar (Rats again), a small amount of Middle Earth and I’m a Magic the Gathering tragic – which I’ve been playing since the late 90’s.
Outside of the nerdy pursuits, I’m a season ticket holder at Bath Rugby and I love any sport that revolves around oversized athletes colliding with each other at speed. I also love discovering new music and had originally planned to be a music journalist, but fell into standard path of getting into the Finance sector by doing an English degree…
9) Pirates or Ninjas?
Pirates, of course – who’s heard of a Ninja with a Westcountry accent…

Thanks for sharing Barry! Next week we’ll learn more about Col.
