This week we hear from one of the new coaches to join Forge Breakers in Season III, Scott!
1) What’s your name, and where do you come from?
Scott or Garland, I live in Calne
2) Tell us a little about how you came to play Blood Bowl and your experience in with the game and wider hobby.
Started playing when I was a teenager at a local club, infrequently played between then and now, with an uptick since it got picked back up by GW, and played in a handful of tournaments. Outside of Blood Bowl, I used to play 40k and Fantasy, eventually having touched nearly every one of the old specialist games at least once. I’ve ended up dabbling in many other tabletop wargames, skirmishes, board and card games, with Infinity, Battletech and Turnip28 currently holding my interest.
3) What Blood Bowl achievement are you most proud of?
4) What’s your favourite team and why?
I was a huge fan of the unofficial Bretonian team, which was featured in the Blood Bowl 2 video game, that was my favourite team before the current edition. Nobility is fine, but not the same, despite them being the replacement.
5) Tell us about the team you’ve brought into Season III. Did you select it for purely competitive reasons, or were there other factors involved?
I’ve brought Ogres, a team that I can have fun with regardless of the type of day I’ve had, type of game I’m having or type of opponent I’m facing.
6) What was your thought process behind your roster selections, skills taken and how would you describe your playstyle with this team?
Roster wise was a fairly standard ogre start with the runt punter, 3 ogres, 4 re-rolls, apothecary and spend any remaining cash on the gnobs. Starting skills was leader on the punter, block on two ogres and I’ve enjoyed an ogre with pro (Or progre) for a little versatility. In an eternal format, I’d randomise everything for the hilarity but here for this league I’ve chosen relatively sensibly for the ogres then I’ve gambled with randoms and always lost so far. Playstyle I just want to send gnobs skyward, either with the ball, to get them further up field or just as a living missile, I was doing very well on completions but have fell off about halfway through the league.
7) What are your expectations for this season?
Do you have any particular goals you’d like to achieve? Who are you backing to win each division this season? It’s a little late in the season for things to change too much, looks like I’m finishing top half which is fine.
8) What’s one thing you’d change about Blood Bowl?
Bring back the old Bretonian team, give me 4 knights!
9) What Pitch is your favourite (rules, artwork, whatever)?
Standard green, anywhere the lines are clear, especially towards the centre
10) Outside of Blood Bowl ,tell us a little about your life and main passions?
I enjoy live music and playing video games
11) Pirates or Ninjas?
12) What’s your favourite film?
Unforgiven.
Thanks for sharing Scott, much appreciated 😊
