This week, we sit down with the nicest man in Blood Bowl, Harvey!
1) What’s your name and where do you come from?
Harvey Bull, Dartford in Kent. Just South of the infamous M25 tunnel.
2) Tell us a little about how you came to play Blood Bowl and your experience in with the game and wider hobby.
I have friends from Dartford who I have always gamed with, and we discovered Blood Bowl 2 during lockdown. I’ve played here and there ever since. I’ve played 2 or 3 seasons of online leagues and have now discovered tabletop through the ForgeBreakers. I played the 2nd half of Season 1, sat out Season 2 and am back for Season 3. I watch streamers playing on YouTube too. It’s a great way to learn! I love that the game has enough to it to keep people engaged over decades, that it’s serious yet daft at the same time and I love the community.
3) What Blood Bowl achievement are you most proud of?
For the amount of Blood Bowl I play, I think I have pretty good attendance at the social events. I’m proud of that. I like sports and hobbies that go beyond the activity itself.

4) What’s your favourite team and why?
I have only two teams of minis – Necro and Dark Elves. Although I play quite conservatively, I like players like Werewolves and Witch Elves that are hard, fast and agile all at once.
5) Tell us about the team you’ve brought into Season III. Did you select it for purely competitive reasons, or were there other factors involved and 6) What was your thought process behind your roster selections, skills taken and how would you describe your playstyle with this team?
Dark Elves. I like a competitive team, and competitive skills, but I try not to just min/max. I’m put off Orcs, for example, in the 2020 ruleset because I can’t see how you can get past putting all the same skills on the positionals: Block, Guard and Mighty Blow. I want my team to feel like my team and to have some flair and interest.
7) What are your expectations for this season? Do you have any particular goals you’d like to achieve? Who are you backing to win each division this season?
I’ve had a really good run so far, so am in a position where I can hope for promotion to Div 2. I would like to get both witch elves to level 3 – one as a killer and as a ball stripper. I will then name them Slap and Tickle. This will further my bond with the team.
8) What’s one thing you’d change about Blood Bowl?
I’m not so much into the preparation of minis. It’s a big struggle for me to get a new team playable. I only really paint two colours, and it still takes me ages! I’d play happily with cardboard cutouts, lollipop sticks, whatever.

9) What Pitch is your favourite (rules, artwork, whatever)?
One that I can see the squares on. I only have the basic pitch and I still really struggle with that central area were there are no grid markings at all. I think I’ll modify my pitch. Today.
10) Outside of Blood Bowl tell us a little about your life and main passions?
My main passion these days is golf. I like bicycles and motorbikes, and I like trying to keep a little bit fit. Not too much, just enough that I can enjoy my food and drink and still stay reasonably slim.
11) Pirates or Ninjas?
Ninjas. All in black with katanas and shiruken. Way cool!
12) What’s your favourite film?
It’s hard to pick just one, but I’ll go with Kill Bill Part 2. Every scene is priceless but the two climactic fight scenes, the fight with Daryl Hannah in the scuzzy trailer and the fight with Bill at the end, are just bonkers. I love it!
Cheers, Harvey!
