Re-drafting

Re-drafting teams from previous season per rules (pages 99 and 100) of the Blood Bowl 2020 Rulebook with the following modifications.

DIVISION 1 TEAMS

Coaches of teams in Division 1 will have a cap of 1,500 TV.

DIVISION 2 TEAMS

Coaches of teams in Division 2 will have a cap of 1,400 TV.

DIVISION 3 TEAMS

Coaches of teams in Division 3 will have a cap of 1,300 TV.

There is NO Re-draft Budget Cap as described in step 2 ‘Raise Funds’ of the rule book. The above TV caps are placed in the final TV of the re-drafted roster.

Re-drafted teams will apply the TV caps based on the division in which they will play their next season and the TV cap is only in place until after the first match of the season.

Re-drafted players with unspent SPPs must not spend those points until after the first match of the season.

If a team wishes to heal any Niggling Injuries, please contact a Commissioner who will perform the required dice rolls on Discord.

Re-drafting teams must be manually set up on the new season Tourplay competition. Please contact a Commissioner to assist with this step.

The FB Cup

The FB Cup is our free to enter, knock out tournament run parallel to the regular league season. This seasons FC Cup will see the introduction of additional rules and themed rounds to spice things up a bit!

Format

Upon commencement of each round the Commissioners will perform a random ‘FA Cup style’ draw, usually streamed live on twitch. At this point the special rule will be revealed and coaches have a set number of weeks to play their match.

entry

Entry into the FC Cup is free. If Please contact a Commissioner if you wish to sign up a team from outside the league season.

League teams

When FB Cup matches take place, teams participating in the league season use the roster as at the time of their FB Cup match. This means MNGs do not come back. Also, any SPPs gained, MNGs/NIs/Stat decreases which occur during a FB Cup match have no impact on the league team roster.

League teams taking part in the FB Cup will be awarded MVPs randomly by Commissioners (via Discord).

Not in the league?

If a coach, who isn’t part of the league, wants to take part in the FC Cup, please use the new team roster rules described above to create your team then contact a Commissioner to register your interest.

Bounties

The bounty system is designed add a bit of extra spice to games during the season.

WHO?

Any coach can place a bounty, either anonymously or publicly.

WHAT?

A bounty takes the form of an amount of gold the proposing coach wishes to put up (from their own treasury) when certain criteria is achieved.

For example, coach A wanted to encourage the removal of a certain player from another team, they offer 20,000 gold pieces to the coach who causes a CAS to that player. Upon completion of the bounty, a Commissioner transfers the gold.

WHY?

Its Blood Bowl…bribes, bounties and ungentlemanly conduct is what we’re here for isn’t it?

WHEN?

At any point during the league season. Coaches can offer multiple bounties as often as they wish.

HOW?

Coaches confirm the details with a Commissioner. The bounty is then announced (anonymously if preferred).

The Commissioners ensure the bounty is paid, but its the instigating coaches responsibility to monitor the status of the bounty.

League rounds will be 3 weeks. Each regular season round starts on a Wednesday and concludes on a Tuesday.

Divisions 1 and 2 will play rounds 1 to 9 and then enter into the end of season promotion and relegation play-offs.

Division 3, which is larger than divisions 1 and 2 will play rounds 1 to 11. This will conclude the regular season. Division 3 will not have any promotion play-offs, instead the final league standings will determine which coaches are promoted.

Championship, promotion and relegation play-off rules are covered below in ‘General Rules’.

Forge Breakers code of conduct

Our code of conduct is in place to remind us all about the importance of the social contract we enter into whenever we sit down for a game with another coach. Blood Bowl is a game which brings out passionate feelings and actions… which is great! But please remember, you and the other coach, are both involved in the story of your match. No matter the outcome of the match we all have a responsibility to ensure the hand shake at the end is warmly offered and received.

Cheer each others successes and commiserate each others failures.

If any coach has experienced conduct of a lesser standard than which aligns with this code of conduct and wishes to request support, please email via the link below.

General rules

This section covers all the general rules relevant to league seasons and the FB Cup.

Match organisation

Matches should be played in Chippenham. However, if both coaches agree, matches can be played elsewhere.

All matches must be arranged via the relevant match scheduling channels linked below in order to provide full visibility for staff.

If a coach experiences difficulty arranging a match, please contact a Commissioner for support.

Playing ahead

Playing league matches ahead (i.e. before a rounds start date) is allowed provided both coaches have played the same number of matches.

Extensions

Extensions for league matches (i.e. playing a match after the end of a round pertaining to the game in question) are generally not permitted. Extension may be allowed only with express permission from the Commissioners. For an extension to be considered, the match in question must have an agreed date within 3 days of the end of the current round.

If an extension is not agreed, the match must be conceded via the following principles.

Concessions

Coaches will be allowed to concede 1 match per league season.

There are 2 types of concession. a) Those which occur prior to a match occurring and b) those which occur during the course of the match. Both categories follow the rules laid out on page 67 of the BB2020 rule book. However, for concession which occur during the course of a match, the D6 roll to determine whether players quit the team will occur for the most experienced player on the roster (so can impact players with less than the 3 advancements defined in the rule book). If 2 or more players are of identical experience, one is chosen at random. These rolls will be performed by a Commissioner on Discord.

If a coach find their team reduced to only 3 players or fewer, they may concede without penalty as per ‘Set-up’ rules detailed on page 40 of the BB2020 rule book.

Mechanically, concessions are processed within TourPlay whereby the match is started as normal (weather, fans, inducements are completed as normal), but the conceding coach then chooses the ‘concede match’ option.

Commissioners may intervene where coaches cannot come to an accord and process any concessions themselves. Commissioners will base their decision on who has made most effort to get the match played.

If a coach concedes more than 1 game within the league season, that coach forfeits their place and entry fee in the current league season.

Entry Fee breakdown

League season

League season entry fee will be £10 for teams joining from round 1. Any coaches who join the later (i.e. as replacements for coaches who drop out) will pay a proportion of this entry fee on a case-by-case basis. Coaches who drop out forfeit their entry fee.

The £10 entry fee covers a) the costs of Tourplay, which has a monthly subscription fee based on the number of registered players/administrators attached to a league and b) the swag gift given to coaches participating in the league.

FB Cup

The FB Cup is free to join!

Alternative platforms

Forge Breakers is a Blood Bowl 2020 tabletop community, however, in extreme circumstances FUMBBL may be permitted only with both express permission of the league commissioners and agreement from both coaches related to the match in question. If “Coach B” doesn’t want to use FUMBBL, their veto is final.

All other digital alternatives (i.e. Blood Bowl 2, Blood Bowl 3, Tabletop Simulator) for playing a match are forbidden.

Drop-out and replacements

In scenarios where a coach is either removed from the league or they’ve stepped down, a replacement will be sought by the league commissioners. Priority/first refusal is given to coaches who have been part of the community for a longer period of time.

If suitable replacements cannot be found, ‘admin’ teams will be drafted in as required. An ‘admin’ team is a 2nd team entered into the relevant competition, coached by a commissioner (or other designated coach).

Communication channels

All coaches should be registered on the Forge Breaker Discord server. Link can be found on the site home page.

Discord is the primary communications channel for match organisation, league announcements, rules queries and other general BB/hobby chat.

Models and equipment

Each coach should ensure pitch, dice (2D6, 3 block dice, D8, D16), rulebook and access to Tourplay availability for their matches.

All models should be recognizable and distinguishable. If you are using proxies, please ensure your opponent is aware of this.

For the regular season there is no painting requirement in place. However all teams playing in the end of season playoffs should be painted to a 3-colour minimum standard.

Ruleset

Forge Breakers Blood Bowl matches use the Blood Bowl 2020 ruleset and FAQs. FAQs released during the season are considered legal, however any new team rosters are not valid.

Queries

In the event of rules queries during a match, please post these to the rules-queries channel in Discord and we will try and get an answer as fast as possible. More experienced players can be asked to referee matches between less experienced players, if desired.

PLAY-OFFS & POST SEASON

Upon completion of the regular season, the league season enters the ‘play-off’ phase. This phase resolves the overall champion, and which teams (coaches) are promoted and relegated.

Division placement is at a coach level, rather than team. Re-drafting or entering a new team does not, in itself, impact division placement.

Replacements & drop outs

In scenarios where a coach participates in over 50% of the season, their finishing league position will be used for determining their divisional placement and/or involvement in play-offs in the following season.

Only points gained by that coach will contribute to their league position.

If a coach participates in 50% or less of the season fixtures they will not be included in any determination of play-offs and they will be treated as a new coach for divisional placement in the following season.

In the real world

The league is constantly evolving and, whilst these guidelines will be used to help Commissioners determine the play offs, there may be instances where decisions have to be made based on the best interest of the league and it’s members.

The real world realisation of the play-offs depends on the sign-ups for the following season. Sign-up numbers directly impact the need to ensure each division in the following season contains a balanced number of teams. Therefore, the details included below are the ‘best case’ scenario.

Division 1 Championship play-off

The top 4 coaches in Division 1 enter into a knock-out semi-final with the winners battling it out for the Forge Breaker League trophy. The teams final league placing determine the semi-final draw: P1 v P4 and P2 v P3.

Promotion and relegation play-offs

Promotion from either Division 2 or Division 3 can be achieved by either finishing the regular season in 1 st place or via the end of season play-off.

Relegation from either Division 1 or Division 2 occurs by either finishing the regular season in bottom place or via the end of the season play-off.

The end of season play-offs pits the coaches who finish 2nd, 3rd and 4th, along with the 7th placed coach from the above league, in a semi-final/final knockout series of matches. The winner of this play-off series is promoted (or they retain their place if the 7th placed team wins).

INDUCEMENTs & TIE-BREAKERS

Coaches will have the following inducements options for league and FB Cup games:

Inducements
Tie-breakers

The following tie-break order will be used on TourPlay:

Friendly and exhibition matches

‘Friendlies’ are deemed ‘matches which take place between coaches using their league team roster – and which are impacted by the ‘friendly’ match events/outcomes. (i.e. injuries/MVP awards etc)’. In league seasons friendly matches using this definition are not permitted.

‘Exhibition’ matches, using rosters independent from league season teams, are encouraged and can be played as often as coaches want.
