Next up in our mini-series of coach interviews covering all our lovely new coaches who joined for Season IV… we sit down with Dan the 4th!
1) What’s your name and where do you come from?
Dan, originally from Bristol. I moved to Wiltshire a few years ago after Uni and living in Bath.
2) Tell us a little about how you came to play Blood Bowl and your experience with the game and wider hobby.
I was introduced to Blood Bowl by a hobby group including Dan and Barry. I’ve played a few times at our houses, which included the chaotic Dungeonbowl. This will be my first league.

3) What Blood Bowl achievement are you most proud of?
Managing to score a few touchdowns and not losing a game has been a league achievement so far.
4) What’s your favourite team and why?
Dwarf Giants. I’m a collector of Dwarf armies, Kharadron Overlords in AOS and Kingdom of Khazad-Dûm in MESBG. I’ve even attempted playing Leagues of Votann in Kill Team and using a long-running Dwarf character in WFRP.
This has continued into Blood Bowl. I appreciate their aesthetic, their reliably solid style and having to adopt slower rugby-esque tactics.

5) Tell us about the team you’ve brought into Season IV. Did you select it for purely competitive reasons, or were there other factors involved?
Dwarf Giants, a solid starting team I’ve played exclusively and one I’m relatively comfortable with going into my first league.
6) What was your thought process behind your roster selections, skills taken, and how would you describe your playstyle with this team?
Aiming to use Dwarf tactics of using a strong defense/scrimmage and cage attacks where possible.
The Deathroller is purely too expensive and volatile to build a starting team around in my opinion, but it may make an appearance later in the league. Because of this I focused on maximizing the other positionals.
7) What are your expectations for this season? Do you have any particular goals you’d like to achieve? Who are you backing to win each division this season?

Who are you backing to win each division this season? Survive, enjoy it and see how it goes. The Season 3 updates have impacted the team, but it should still be relatively competitive.
Lizardmen, Orcs and Wood Elf teams especially appear to be strong.
8) What’s one thing you’d change about Blood Bowl?
From a Dwarf player perspective, it will be great to see new models of Flint Churnblade (Chainsaw-wielding Dwarf Looney) and Boomer Eziasson (Dwarf Bombardier). To add a bit more unpredictability to a dwarf team with relatively similar players.

9) What Pitch is your favourite (rules, artwork, whatever)?
The classic starter pitch, it always looks iconic with any team on it. I prefer the grassy pitches. The spiralling isometric patterns of the High Elf pitch and the tufty gnome pitch are great too.
10) Outside of Blood Bowl tell us a little about your life and main passions?
Married with a 4-year-old and all of the adventures that this brings. I work for a Publishing/Media company in a varied content, data and financial reporting role. I enjoy country walks, canoeing and cycling, following local rugby/football teams. I’m also an avid reader, gig goer, boardgamer, occasional filmmaker and member of the Wiltshire Astronomical Society.
11) Pirates or Ninjas?
Pirates 100%! Especially due to my Bristol connection and childhood holidays along the Cornish coast. My surname also features prominently in Treasure Island.
Thanks for sharing, Mr Hawk!😊
