Next up in our mini-series of coach interviews covering all our lovely new coaches who joined for Season IV… we sit down with Mike!
1) What’s your name and where do you come from?
I am originally from Chichester on the south coast, served 24 years in the Army (Royal Tank Regiment) in Germany, Canada, Cyprus and UK. 20 years on the Railway as a Maintainer, New Works Tester and a Signalling Engineer. Now working as a Security Officer at an MOD establishment.
2) Tell us a little about how you came to play Blood Bowl and your experience with the game and wider hobby.
Been into Bloodbowl since around 2010 when we worked off of LRB 6. Work has however gotten in the way since. Gaming systems played have been Warhammer 40K,The old world, Dystopian Wars, X Wing, Battletech, and most recently Gaslands.
Used to help run Calne gaming club and painted all of the scenery, which is still going well. (Tom, Scott and Daniel can vouch for this).

3) What Blood Bowl achievement are you most proud of?
Not played for some time due to work, but played regularly around 2010 and competed in local leagues and tournaments.
4) What’s your favourite team and why?
Started with Wood Elves and stuck with them all the time.
5) Tell us about the team you’ve brought into Season IV. Did you select it for purely competitive reasons, or were there other factors involved?
Stuck with Wood Elves as were my first team, and know how they work.

6) What was your thought process behind your roster selections, skills taken, and how would you describe your playstyle with this team?
Use Wardancers Catchers and Throwers to their advantage. Score quickly and Dodge, Dodge, Dodge…. and Dodge again.
7) What are your expectations for this season? Do you have any particular goals you’d like to achieve? Who are you backing to win each division this season?
Try to re-learn what I have forgotten, having been away from the game for so long.

8) What’s one thing you’d change about Blood Bowl?
Get GW to cut out all of the unnecessary fluff.
9) What Pitch is your favourite (rules, artwork, whatever)?
The old Blood bowl pitch and dugouts, also Thrudbowl and Cakebowl pitches. (Tournament pitches).
10) Outside of Blood Bowl tell us a little about your life and main passions?
Looking after dogs Duke and Trixie walking them. Am a massive Star Trek, Gerry Anderson, Irwin Allen collector ( think Thunderbirds UFO Captain Scarlet and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and you’ll have some idea where I’m coming from).

11) Pirates or Ninjas?
Definitely Ninjas as was a 1st kyu in Karate
Thanks for sharing, Mike😊
