Kicking off a mini-series of coach interviews covering all our lovely new coaches who joined for Season IV… we sit down with Nick(2)!
1) What’s your name and where do you come from?
Hi, I’m Nick. Grew up near Aberdeen…been around… now living in Yatton Keynell.
2) Tell us a little about how you came to play Blood Bowl and your experience with the game and wider hobby.
Played Blood Bowl a bit with friends in my teens (35 years ago 🫣), alongside Warhammer Fantasy Battle and D&D. Life got in the way for a while… Returning now, thanks to finding a shout-out for a 40th coach for season IV. Good to be back!
3) What Blood Bowl achievement are you most proud of?
Very limited experience so far, but must say I’m chuffed I’ve gotten to grips with the game quickly to win my first ever league game!
Also pretty chuffed at how my first attempt at painting went: followed a guide but learning quickly…
4) What’s your favourite team and why?
Love me Orcs! I’m a Greenskin fan generally: love their brutal, chaotic and comedic crapness. Though, so far, they seem to be holding their own in Blood Bowl…

5) Tell us about the team you’ve brought into Season IV. Did you select it for purely competitive reasons, or were there other factors involved?
I’ve chosen Orcs for my league team for the reasons above. And, in Blood Bowl, I’ve learned they’re rather tough. As a newbie, I hope that translates as a solid team who, even if they don’t win, won’t be injured too often…
6) What was your thought process behind your roster selections, skills taken, and how would you describe your playstyle with this team?
Though a pretty solid bashy team generally, I like that there’s a good mix of bashy, dodgy, fouly, and throwiness in the team. I reckon I see potential to open plays up enough to keep my opponent from becoming too comfortable in orc playstyle. I like to keep my opponents guessing…
7) What are your expectations for this season? Do you have any particular goals you’d like to achieve? Who are you backing to win each division this season?
I’d like to think I could make the top 3 in the division. Might be naivete, given others look a bit handy, but I’m ever the optimist!

8) What’s one thing you’d change about Blood Bowl?
Was a bit of a shock to open up my new Blood Bowl box to realise I had to assemble my plastic figures! I’d change it so all models came ready-made. Though nice to get to know the 3-d printers!
9) What Pitch is your favourite (rules, artwork, whatever)?
Not played on many, though I do like the starter one: nice, clear and simple to help me find my feet.
10) Outside of Blood Bowl tell us a little about your life and main passions?
Married, with 2 kids (23 and 20). I’m currently at uni, retraining as a nurse. Previously worked as a counsellor, tree surgeon, salesman and Royal Navy sailor (I get the 7-year itch!).
Other hobbies are fieldwalking for flint tools left behind by our ancestors, gardening, history stuff and reading.
11) Pirates or Ninjas?
Ninjas! Wanted to be one, in my teens.
Thanks for sharing, Nick😊
