This week’s interview is with our Season I champion, Pholus!

1) Whats your name and where do you come from?

Hello! I’m Peter, from Chippenham. It’s nice to have a settled base, having previously spent my time travelling between London and Munich.

2) Tell us a little about how you came to play Blood Bowl, and your experience in with the game and wider hobby.

Back in the day, I was gifted a copy of the original Blood Bowl video game (BB1), which I became slightly obsessed with! I messed around with BB2 for a bit, but only really got back into Blood Bowl / played on tabletop during Season 1 of Forgebreakers.

3) What Blood Bowl achievement are you most proud of?

Winning Season 1 of the Forgebreakers whilst remaining unbeaten! I think the task was made much easier by selecting Amazons in a league with no starting skills package, but I was still very surprised to end up winning.

4) Tell us about the team you’ve brought into Season III. Did you select it for purely competitive reasons, or were there other factors involved?

Absolutely not for competitive reasons (as evidenced by my awful start to the season)! The first two seasons I took teams (Amazons and Khorne) that are quite competitive to begin with. The thinking behind taking Chaos Dwarves was to see if I could develop a team that would be competitive later in the season, or possibly even redraft them into next season. I also wanted to test out the new Chorf roster.

5) What was your thought process behind your roster selections and the skills you took?

I think a Chaos Dwarf team sort of selects itself. I think you need the blockers and flamesmiths to give you a chance at winning the bash match-ups, the Bull Centaurs are too good to pass up on, and the sneaky stabbers and minotaur seem both too overcosted and too unreliable to take.

6) How would you describe your playstyle with this team?

Poor! My experience has mainly been with teams where any of the players could mostly fulfil any role, and I am having a hard time adapting to such a binary team.

7) What are your expectations for this season? Do you have any particular goals you’d like to achieve?

I’d like to stay in the top division, but more realistically I expect a relegation battle to play out. In terms of goals, my main goal is to skill up the necessary players to be competitive next season, if I choose to re-draft.

8) Outside of Blood Bowl tell us a little about your life and main passions?

When I’m not spending time with my family or playing Blood Bowl I enjoy swimming and watersports. I’m currently working with Chippenham Aqualetes to get a Chippenham water polo team up and running.

9) Pirates or Ninjas?

Ninjas. Precision, speed and stealth—basically the opposite of a Chorf team, which is probably why I like the contrast!

Pete clearly has a Blood Bowl ‘pose’ 😀

Thanks for sharing Pete!
