Tonight’s match-up: Green Lane Savages coached by @Chris (Sawyer_bean) vs One Tries Two Win coached by @Sam (Samg8632) !
Orcs take on Old World Alliance for the title of “best race to start with O” in the final match for these teams in Division 3. There’s not a huge amount at stake for either team, but pride (and violence) means a lot in Blood Bowl.
With Planet Express having played their last game just a few days ago, the Green Lane Savages are already locked into third place; they can’t overhaul the Beer Belly Barnacles even if they draw level on points having lost to the BBB earlier in the season. The Savages are the only team to have conceded a touchdown to a Halfling player against the BBB, given the prolific nature of one G. Oberwald… who did also carry the ball over the line twice against the Orcs.
As for OTTW, they’ve had a tough year and are looking to turn their current seventh spot into a respectable mid-table finish rather than dropping into the bottom two at the very end – a win could put OTTW above the Sylvanian Calamities, but a defeat earlier in the season against the National Elf Service prevents them snatching 5th place. If OTTW get krumped into the dirt by the Savages though, they might drop behind the Claw Clippers…
On paper you’d have to say the Savages look like the favourites (they’re orcs after all…) but in Blood Bowl paper is more likely to be eaten or forgotten entirely. OTTW are missing star blitzer Lando Spielmann so NAF rules say they get some petty cash to keep things competitive – it’ll be fascinating to see what coach @Sam (Samg8632) brings to the table and with so little at stake if they lose, perhaps @Chris (Sawyer_bean) will have one eye on the play-off matches and want to keep his key players alive and krumpin’ when the opportunity for promotion to Division 2 opens next month!
